LVC Mathematics Department Research Grant Newspaper Article
When I was a staff writer at Lebanon Valley College's student newspaper, La Vie Collegienne, I wrote this article about a research grant the college's mathematics department received from the National Science Foundation to study quantum information systems and quantum entanglement.
I interviewed one of the professors involved in the research group about the subject being studied and the way the grant would help the group to conduct their research. In particular, I asked questions about the scientific field of quantum entanglement and the theoretical and practical applications of the research the group conducted.
After conducting these interviews, I then wrote and edited the article before sending it to the editors of the newspaper for publication. When I wrote the article, I wanted to give a simplified yet still accurate description of a complex field of physics so readers could better understand what quantum entanglement is and how more knowledge about entanglement could be applied to real world issues.
